Groundswell Brewing Company was founded in our living room with a small group of friends.
Kevin had been home-brewing for about 25 years and taking up all the space in the garage with his growing array of brew equipment. He finally agreed to move it to a large shed in the backyard, but then bought a commercial, one-barrel system that HAD to go somewhere other than the shed or the garage.
Today, Groundswell is a team of passionate and skilled craft brew lovers. Together, this team advances a beer philosophy of high-quality and flavor-filled beers that enhance the San Diego lifestyle and seek to build community.
We are huge advocates of craft beer. If you are looking to try craft beer, we’d love to be your first. We just want you to drink craft. Craft is craft. Drink it here. Drink it there. Drink it anywhere. (With apologies to Dr. Seuss.)
Brewing operations are centrally located in Santee, California in an 11,500 square foot industrial space with a 30-barrel brewhouse and a 1,800 square foot tasting room. In its current configuration, this space can brew 10,000 barrels per year, and has space to grow to more than 30,000 barrels per year.
Additionally, Groundswell has two auxiliary tasting rooms. “OG” Groundswell, in the Grantville community of San Diego, is the original brew facility (home to the one barrel system Kevin bought in 2012), but today serves only as a tasting room. Scheduled to open in fall 2017 is the second auxiliary tasting room in downtown Chula Vista, California.
